Smell Then Taste
Psalm 34:8 8 Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.
Have you ever thought about why blossoms come before fruit? Maybe you have but I was pondering this thought after a message that Pastor Glen gave a few Sunday's back. He said "A disciple of God is sweet."
Blossoms then fruit is God's design and something we an learn from and apply to our lives. Smell before taste. Smelling is taking in the aroma. I know you know this, just walk with me. Smell is an introduction. Something that catches your attention. Smell is powerul and all too often not enjoyed long enough.
Two of my favorite smells are spring blossoms and "Black Beauty" roses.
I also love the smell of my kids right out of the bath and my hubby at any point :) but that's just for me!!
When we skip smell and jump to taste something very precious is lost. God purposed blossoms before fruit.
The Bible says the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace etc. Fruit is cultivated. It is to be enjoyed in moderation, in season and in Eve's case some are prohibited.
Wow, I didn't really see this going so deep!
Enjoy the blossoms, care for the blossoms, smell the blossoms. I won't say "be one with the blossoms". :) Linger in the smell though.
When the fruit comes, wait for it to ripen. Take care of it nurture it, prune when needed. Protect it from pests.
Pick it at the right time. Smell, feel, check for worms and then taste and see that it is good.
It's tough. It's easy to take one wiff and devour unripe fruit. It might even taste sweet. But there is nothing like enjoying to the fullest, the aroma and then in season tasting the prime ripe fruit.
Enjoy the moment and make good choices in each moment. Remember all we have is this moment. Let's make the most of it.
This could mean a few different things. What are some examples of fruit or blossoms in your life?
Walking with you. Struggling with you. Fighting with you. Hurting with you. But truly living each moment.
Alanne.
