"Application"
My son Gabe is 8. He loves a good snuggle and works hard at whatever he sets his hands to. A goal he is working towards is not letting things build up and exploding on the thing that tops the cake.
2. Are you mad about something?
We talked about it and I suggested a few questions to help him figure out if the issue is really the issue.
Here they are.
1. Are you sad about something?
2. Are you mad about something?
3. Are you hungry or thirsty?
4. Do you need almonds? or protein? (His body doesn't process refined sugar or processed foods well. Almonds help him with that.)
I wrote these questions in his Goal Book. I asked him what we should title that page and he said "Application". I thought that was very appropriate.
I think we can apply this to our lives as well. What are some questions that you could ask yourself to find out if the issue is really the issue? Or if you find yourself exploding over small issues?
Living and learning with you,
Alanne.
okay, you just keep inspiring me on how to be a better Mom.

Wow, Gabe is so grown up!
ReplyDeleteI was looking through some pictures this morning and I found one of Journey and Levi. Levi was crying and Journey was inncoently sitting in front of him looking very confused. Journey was only a little over a year old in the picture. Such fond memories of those early days with the kids. You'll have to meet Eli one day on one of your trips back west.
The goal notebook is a good idea. Isaac has struggles with exploding in certian situations. Having the gosla written down and referrinf back to them is a good idea.
Hope you are doing well.
